November in the Valley


November in the Chama Valley does something particular to the light. The grass goes gold and stays there, the sun hangs low all afternoon, and everything it touches looks like it was made to be photographed.
That's where we spent Cory's senior session — out at Rancho del Oso, where the valley opens wide and the mountains sit on the horizon like they've always been waiting.
We moved through the aspens, along the river, and out into the open fields. He brought his truck. That felt right.
Cory is a senior at Escalante Middle High School, and this place — this valley, these mountains, this land — is clearly his. The photographs say it without trying.
